William Samuel McClain, 95, of McDonald, died Saturday, March 3, 2018.
He was born November 19, 1922 in McDonald, a son of Samuel and Emma (Roberts) McClain.
Mr. McClain was a graduate of McDonald High School class of 1942. He worked as a smelter for O. Hommel Company in Carnegie for over 30 years where he retired in 1987.
He was a member of McDonald Presbyterian Church and U.S.W.A.
Mr. McClain enjoyed taking care of his lawn, swimming, exercising, and working on trucks. Most important to him was spending time with family and friends. Everyone who met him called him “Pap.”
On February 20, 1954, he married Mildred Thornburg, who died May 24, 1995.
Surviving are two step daughters, Marlene Dhanse of Midway and Alice June (late William) Geisler of McDonald; many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two step-sons, William C. Dhanse and Raymond A. (Joann of Carnegie) Dhanse ; two brothers, Melvin McClain and Edwin Stokes; five sisters, Loretta Bellairt; Thelma Dewey, Vera Purdy, Nelma Snyder and Eldmira Hannan.
Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Nation Funeral Home Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018 with Rev. Tate Fulton officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery McDonald.
